On this day in 1987, fans of The Beatles began grooving anew to some of the iconic group’s most popular albums, With the Beatles, Beatles for Sale, Please Please Me, A Hard Day’s Night, and Help! This was the first time in US music history that many of these UK mixes were made available to American fans. CDs released by Capitol Records made this possible.

March 7th, 1946, stood witness to the birth of Matthew Fisher, the organist for Procol Harum, which delivered the 1967 hit, A Whiter Shade Of Pale.

Another popular artist to come into the world on this day in 1945 was the guitarist and songwriter for the American group, Love, – Arthur Lee. After a memorable career, Lee passed away in Memphis on August 3rd, 2006 at the age of 61 years, succumbing to acute myeloid leukemia.
