Whether documented or not, each day in the world of music has plenty of interesting happenings and quotable anecdotes and stories. Here, we bring you some of the most notable ones that went down on the day of December 11th throughout the years.

This day in 1961 witnessed Please Mr. Postman by the Marvelettes soar to the No.1 position on the U.S. singles’ chart. The track included session musicians, among whom was the celebrated Marvin Gaye as the drummer. Gaye was 22 years old at the time this track was recorded.

On this day in 1973, Ace Frehley, the guitarist for the famous rock band Kiss, was almost electrocuted when he happened to touch a light that had a short circuit. The incident occurred during their Rock and Roll Over Tour at the Lakeland Civic Center in Florida. Frehley had to be taken off stage and carried away; however, he returned after 10 minutes to a crowd that welcomed him with a standing ovation and a show that he planned to finish.

On December 11th 1972, the celebrated funk singer and songwriter, James Brown, was arrested for having attempted to provoke a riot, after a performance in Tennessee. An infuriated Brown made threats to sue the city of Tennessee for a million dollars. Later on, the charges against him were dropped.

This day celebrates the birth of Jermaine Jackson who was born in 1954. During his younger years, Jackson was the lead singer for the band ‘Jackson Brothers’ before it changed to ‘Jackson Five’, in which Michael Jackson was the lead singer.

Also celebrating his birthday on December 11th is Nikki Sixx who was born in 1958. Sixx is well-known for his association, as the co-founder, songwriter and bass guitarist, with the band Mötley Crüe.
