
Each day in the real world is different and so is the case with things in the musical world too. Every year brings in something new and during the course of history, some events have stood out as truly interesting ones. Here are a few that went down on November 26th.
This day in 1968 witnessed the final performance of the famous rock band Cream, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Other rock bands that performed at the venue that day were Taste and Yes. The British rock trio, Cream, were awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.
On this day in 1958, the celebrated singer and songwriter, Johnny Cash entered the U.S. charts with his first successful single Cry! Cry! Cry! at No.14. Cash had seven singles that followed a similar fate and all ended up on the U.S. singles chart. His hit singles I Walk The Line and There You Go made it to the No.1 position.
In 1989, The Rolling Stones helped raise funds for the people affected by Hurricane Hugo. The band held a concert at Death Valley Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina and the proceeds went to the hurricane victims.
On November 26th 1991, Garth Brooks, the famous country singer, requested people to offer 10 cans of canned food at a grocery store and in return they would be given an envelope that contained a surprise lottery. Some fans won tickets to Garth’s approaching concert, in the envelope. The charity show was a success as they received over 10,000 cans of food from music aficionados.
This day celebrates the birth of Tina Turner, who was born in 1939. Turner is celebrated for her fame and success that crossed over half a century.
Also celebrating her birthday today is British singer Natasha Bedingfield, who was born in 1981.
