Music is a realm where several happenings add up to make up an amazing history. In this segment, we discover some of the most important happenings that went down on November 27th.

On this day in 1970, member of The Beatles’ band, George Harrison released his triple album All Things Must Pass. This album is said to include some tracks that were carried forward from the Beatles’ recording sessions. The triple album has received six platinum certifications from the RIAA, thus making All Things Must Pass the top-selling album by a solo artist from The Beatles’ band. The album has also been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

November 27th 1974 witnessed performances by Rod Stewart and the Faces band, at The Odeon in Lewisham, London. The band was later joined by Paul McCartney and his wife Linda McCartney, as they performed some numbers jointly.

On November 27th 1986, Bon Jovi soared to the No.1 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with their hit single You Give Love A Bad Name, from their album Slippery When Wet. This was the band’s first song to debut at the No.1 position on the singles chart.

This day in 1966 witnessed the song Winchester Cathedral, by the British band, The New Vaudeville Band, rise to the No. 1 spot on the U.S. singles chart.

This day celebrates the birth of the talented and celebrated guitarist, Jimi Hendrix who was born in 1942. Hendrix’s works have influenced other musicians all through the years. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have even declared that Hendrix is the greatest instrumentalist to have influenced the history of rock music.

Also celebrating his birthday on November 27th is rapper Mike Skinner who was born in 1978. Skinner was part of a British garage group The Streets.
